Sandqvist 169/172 and in the Constellation of Circinus
It's too light up here in the far north for the deep-sky, so I've decided on another trip to the southern skies for dark nebulae. With the Milky Way as a backdrop these dust clouds are on the edge of the Circinus-West molecular cloud and block our view of all those stars to stunning effect. Consider how many new stars are being formed in there.
From right to left we have here Sandqvist 169, Sandqvist 171 and Sandqvist 172 stretching across the centre of this wide-field image taken remotely from Siding Spring.
